Arturo Vidal insisted that he is not going to Manchester United. Meanwhile, it is reported that Liverpool have joined the race for his signature

Manchester United have been linked with Chilean ace Arturo Vidal for a while now. It is believed that van Gaal is keen on bringing the Juventus midfielder to Old Trafford as he looks to revolutionize the United side that finished seventh last season. The Dutchman wants the player to partner Ander Herrera in the heart of the midfield, especially since Michael Carrick has been ruled out of action for three months. The speculation linking him to United has been intense but Vidal has repeatedly played down these links.

Vidal cleared the air regarding his future a while ago. He said, “I’ve heard of interest from Real [Madrid], from [Manchester] United, but that’s for someone else to worry about. It’s difficult to talk about another team when you already play for a big one. I have run out champions three times here, I have respect for my teammates. Perhaps I will stay the rest of my life at Juventus. When I arrive in Italy, I’ll talk with the coach and we’ll see what happens.”

Just yesterday, Vidal was questioned by Sky Italia about his future and said, “I’m still on holiday at the moment. Can I say I’m staying at Juve? I don’t know. On Monday I’ll talk to Allegri then we’ll see. I’m happy here. I’m calm. I believe Juve fans can be too. I still haven’t spoken to Allegri or my team-mates.”

Asked if he was going to Manchester United, he added: “No, no.”

It seems like United will have a big task on their hands, to persuade the 27 year old to join their club. Even though club chairman Ed Woodward has said that the club is not afraid of spending big, Juventus are adamant about not losing the midfielder.  Juventus director Pavel Nedved said, “Our strategy is clear; we want to keep all our best players, including Vidal and Pogba. We don’t want to sell anyone, especially Vidal. Certainl, if there were a high bid for them, we’d have to think about it but we don’t want to sell our champions. We want to be competitive in the Champions League and the only sales to be players who are not part of our plans.”

Present teammate and ex-Manchester United player Carlos Tevez has also insisted Vidal to stay at Juventus.

“Vidal is a phenomenon, a great champion. I hope he stays here with us, he must not go away from Juventus,” Tevez told Marca.

Reports claim Liverpool have joined the race to secure the Juventus star and are even considering making him the club-record transfer by launching a £42.5m move to rope him in.
