Following a hectic transfer window in which Manchester United acquired players like Radamel Falcao and Angel Di Maria, manager Louis Van Gaal spoke about his appointment at Old Trafford, thanking the Board for buying the players he wanted.

Van Gaal’s start at Manchester United has not been quite upto the expectations with the Red Devils failing to register a single win. However the club manager seems to be unfazed, believing that he knew exactly what he was getting into when he accepted the job offer.

“No, I don’t regret taking this job. Yes, it is a massive job I have taken on at Manchester United. I realise that.”

“And the situation is not worse than I thought – I knew what I would find on my plate.”

The manager believes that he took on a tough challenge by accepting United’s offer, claiming that if he wanted an easy job, he would have gone to Tottenham Hotspurs, who he believes, are not of the same ilk as United.

“I could have opted for an easier job. If I had gone to Tottenham, the job would not have been as enormous as here at United.”

“I could have easily gone to Spurs. But I chose the biggest challenge of all the jobs in football. And I really wanted to join the number one club in the country, not Tottenham.”

“Financially, Tottenham was kind of as attractive as Man United. But, in my eyes, Man United is still the number one club in England, Tottenham really is not.”

Louis Van Gaal has received complete backing from the Board at Old Trafford who have entrusted him with the job to turn things around. With the David Moyes experiment behind the club, Van Gaal was given a heavy purse to enter the transfer market and has signed 6 players in a single summer.

Van Gaal has openly admitted that he would not have been allowed to spend so much on a single summer at clubs like Bayern Munich but believes that the show of support is encouraging for him as a manager.

“At Bayern, they would have stopped me [spending]. But do you know what United’s people do? They just keep buying.”

“They [Manchester United Board] support me. They have trust in me. You can feel that, as a person too.”

Van Gaal believes that his appointment with Manchester United will be his last project and hopes to end his career with a bang at Old Trafford.

“I want to end my big coaching career here, at Manchester United. I really want to bring the championship here to the people of Man United.”

“Those smiles on the faces come when my computer expert, who combines the good things of a game on a DVD, puts great music with those great football moments.”

“I love that more than anything. And I have seen with my other clubs, and with Holland in the World Cup, how the players love it too. It is magic stuff and is one of the biggest motivations for a manager. Well, it is for me, I love to see my players have fun and feel proud.”
