Uruguay Head Coach Oscar Tabarez, in an interview with Montevideo-based radio station Sport 890 revealed that Barcelona have had a deal in place with Liverpool for striker Luis Suarez since November 2013.

Liverpool’s Luis Suarez has been a hot property in football for over a year now. The controversial goal scoring striker in possession was the subject of a big money transfer bid from Arsenal and Real Madrid last summer. After an eventful World Cup 2014 for the Uruguay striker, Liverpool and Barcelona officials had met in London to discuss the possibilities of a potential transfer deal. Luis Suarez is believed to be closer to a move to Barcelona and deal seemed imminent in all quarters.

This story has taken a twist with the revelation of Uruguay head coach about a deal in place between Liverpool and Barcelona. Uruguay head coach Oscar Tabarez told that a deal in principle is exists between Liverpool and Barcelona over Luis Suarez since Novemeber 2013. This is expected to shock the whole football world and especially the fans of Liverpool FC.

“Luis Suarez had told me about the Barcelona interest in November last year a few days before the Jordan match (20th November 2013). At that time the talks between Liverpool and Barcelona were very good and an agreement was arranged back then. After the amazing season he had Liverpool did not want to sell him understandably and they began to back out of the deal they made with Barcelona in November last year. Luis got word of this a day after the victory against England. He was a changed man, he got upset and his head was elsewhere. He could barely train with the rest of the team. I had to have him train with a different group from the main squad.”

Taking things into perspective, if the revelation is correct, then Luis Suarez signed contract extension with Liverpool only after ‘the agreement’ with Barcelona. The release clause of Luis Suarez, believed to be in the region of £80 million might also be a part of that agreement. Its not certain whether it is a conspiracy theory or reality. But Tabarez’ quotes are certainly going to cause some unrest in Merseyside.
