As Kerala Blasters take on league leaders, Atletico de Kolkata, assistant coach Trevor Morgan believes that the Blasters would have to take their goal scoring opportunities, if they are to match the leaders.

“We have to improve our scoring abilities, the chances that are created need to be converted. And we have conceded three times in the past two matches from different set-pieces, that is another area which needs to be taken care of as well.” the former East Bengal gaffer said, while talking to ISL Media Team

Morgan, further believes that his side’s low performances, are due to the fact that they have been travelling away from home, and the fatigue that is setting in.

““In both our matches we dominated in terms of possession but could not convert the opportunities we got into goals. I think that is the primary reason for our failure. And there are no issues about being tired, we have got enough gaps between the matches to recover. So we just need to start winning matches, that’s it,” he explained.

With Head Coach Antonio Habas and prolific goal scorer Fikru, banned for a couple of matches, Kerala could benefit from this Atletico misfortune.

“Well, Kolkata are playing really good football, they are a good team, they are confident. Other than Fikru, they have got a great player in Luis Garcia, and Cavin Lobo played really well in their last match. So I don’t think Fikru’s absence is an advantage. I believe we need to focus on our own game to win tomorrow’s match,” Morgan added.

It would be a homecoming for both Trevor Morgan and Mehtab Hossain, as Kerala Blasters play away from home, at Atletico de Kolkata’s Salt Lake Stadium
