Napoli manager Rafa Benitez wants to add Premier League stars Thomas Vermaelen and Roberto Soldado in the summer, while AC Milan are already preparing their bid for Read Madrid defender Fabio Coentrao.
North London stars to Napoli
Napoli will target Premier League duo Thomas Vermaelen and Roberto Soldado in the summer, according to reports.
It is believed that Rafa Benitez wants to bring the Arsenal and Tottenham players to Italy and use them for a more convincing campaign next season. Arsenal’s Belgian centre-back has been out of favour this season, and has been the third fiddle to the successful Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny’s partnership, and should be open to a move.
Roberto Soldado has had a dismal time at England since his arrival in the summer window and has pretty much failed at Spurs, after his high profile move from the La Liga. At present, Tim Sherwood has made his preference of Emmanuel Adebayor known.
Napoli Coach Rafa Benitez had commented earlier that he was aware that his side lacked balance after a string of losses
Benitez’s side faced a loss in the first leg of the domestic cup final to Roma and are fighting hard to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Benitez had said:
“It’s not easy at the moment, but we are on the right track. I don’t like losing any games, but if we are going to lose any we must at least do so trying to play good football. We’re still missing some balance but we need to keep working with the same ideas. We must continue attacking, that’s our best quality, but also defend better. The league is the key to developing, we have a lot of games left and we can do it”.
Perhaps the ex Inter Milan, Liverpool, Chelsea and Valencia coach feels that he will need reinforcements in the summer to get his Italian side to have a more favourable and successful campaign next season and has identified the two out of favour North London players, as his targets.
AC Milan seriously targeting Fabio Coentrao

It is believed that the Serie A giants tried submitting an offer for the Portuguese defender in the winter transfer window, but Carlo Ancelotti insisted on keeping the player and not favour his ex-club by sending the player who is pretty much surplus to the demands of the club, to Italy.
According to Tuttosport, Real Madrid are going to release the player at the end of the current campaign AC Milan might add Coentrao, who has only has four league appearances for Los Blancos this season thus far, to their ranks in the summer.
Reports also propose that AC Milan are already arranging a bid for the defender as new boss Clarence Seedorf has apparently expressed his interest in landing the full-back.
