Tottenham Hotspur’s squad reshaping under Mauricio Pochettino might lead to the signing of  Roma striker Mattia Destro at the expense of Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado.

Mauricio Pochettino’s blueprint at Espanyol and Southampton depended on a hard working target man who lead the pressing from the front. In Espanyol, it was Pablo Daniel Osvaldo who lead the La Liga outfit from the front. Even though Mauricio Pochettino brought him to Southampton, the striker failed to settle in English Premier League and was shipped out on loan to Juventus due to issues in the dressing room. Then it was veteran striker Rickie Lambert who fulfilled the duties for Mauricio Pochettino’s Southampton.

Naturally we can expect the need for a striker in the similar mould at Tottenham Hotspur as well. Their current options are limited to Togo hit-man Emmanuel Adebayor, Spanish poacher Roberto Soldado and Academy prospect Harry Kane. The youngster Hurry Kane is too inexperienced to lead the line on his own and is more suited to the role of a second striker or a wide forward. When it comes to Tottenham’s record signing Roberto Soldado, he hasn’t hit the English Premier League and is not a Target-man in any sense. Roberto Soldado himself will rule out of the running for such a role after his horrible season.

That leaves Mauricio Pochettino with the inconsistent but brilliant Emmanuel Adebayor. Tottenham’s highest paid player is one of the most feared striker when on form. He rightly fits the Mauricio Pochettino prototype as well. When on song as Adebayor can win the match on his own by his methods. He has every weapon required for a complete striker but his days do not come that often! Emmanuel Adebayor performs only when he takes up the challenge to prove a point and on other days he is one of the laziest guys who is happy with his financial package. Mauricio Pochettino might not be willing to entrust his goal scoring responsibilities in such a striker and will be happy to ship Emmanuel Adebayor out if Monaco‘s interest materializes in a good bid.

As Mauricio Pochettino prepares for his new life at Tottenham Hotspur, a consistent goal scoring outlet is required and that points fingers towards his long term target Mattia Destro. AS Roma striker was a target of Southampton earlier and with their Captain changing the ships it is expected that the new crew will try to gift him with his long admired target.

Serie A striker has scored 13 goals in 20 appearances for AS Roma and his brilliant goal scoring exploits earned him a spot in Cesar Prandelli’s Italy squad for 2014 World Cup. 23-year-old striker is highly rated and will tick the boxes of Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy’s signing pattern. Metro reported that Tottenham Hotspur are preparing a 14 million offer for Roma striker Mattio Destro‘s services.

Mattia Destro can also play on both the wings and if Tottenham can persuade him to switch Serie A for English Premier League, Mauricio Pochettino will have a real gem to assign his goal scoring responsibilities.
