Cristiano Ronaldo bagged another hat-trick to help Real Madrid beat Athletic Bilbao and coach Ancelotti believes that the Portuguese international is certain to win the Ballon d’Or this year.

Ronaldo scored his third hat-trick while Karim Benzema bagged a brace as Real Madrid comfortably beat Athletic Bilbao by 5-0. Carlo Ancelotti’s side has jumped to the forth place in La Liga now and the Italian boss believes that this stunning form of Ronaldo will help him win the Ballon d’Or this year.

“I think there can be no doubt about Cristiano for the Ballon d’Or this year,” Carlo Ancelotti is quoted as saying by AS . “There’s no putting money on it.”

Ancelotti said that his all three forwards played extremely well while he also praised the midfielders. “All three of our forwards were fantastic [against Athletic]. Cristiano and [Karim] Benzema scored but Gareth Bale made assists and worked hard. It’s essential to work together. The midfield was good, too.

“With the ball we have three in midfield and without it, Bale helps us defend and makes a line of four. James Rodriguez then moves to the left. We’re adapting and eager to learn.”

Real Madrid’s defence looked improved against set pieces of Athletic Bilbao and Ancelotti said that it was their best game of the season. “This was our best game, much better than last year at this point. What we need now is continuity. We were more attentive at set-pieces and kept a clean sheet. Everything went well.”

Cristiano Ronaldo, scorer of three goals, was also very pleased with the win and he said that the performance level of Real Madrid is improving with every game.

“We are improving,” Ronaldo said. “As the coach said at the press conference we are improving in some aspects and we are growing, we have room for improvement.

“The team has played well and the team has scored five goals without reply, we are very happy.”

Striker Karim Benzema has been targeted by some sections of media for his bellow par performances this season but he came back strongly against Athletic Bilbao by scoring a brace and Ronaldo came to the rescue of the Frenchman in his press conference.

Ronaldo said that: “I’m happy for him. He is the best striker in the league and one of the world’s best. Criticisms are part of being a professional footballer and we have to be above such things. We [Benzema, Gareth Bale and Ronaldo] like it [their partnership], we’re used to playing together and are very happy.”
