According to recent reports, Real Madrid are planning to ‘swoosh’ in for Luis Suarez this summer and are ready to table a £70 million bid to get the Uruguayan international.
The Los Blancos have been suffering the lack of a formidable striker for the past couple of seasons and though Karim Benzema has picked up his form, it is no news that they are keen to invest in a striker come summer. Former Atletico Madrid striker, Radamel Falcao, was considered to be the prime target but reports now suggest that Florentino Perez has set his sight on Luis Suarez who has taken the English Premier League by a storm this season.
The Los Blancos are planning a £70 million bid before the start of the World Cup to bring the striker to Spain and may include either Karim Benzema or Alvaro Morata in the exchange deal. Though the striker has recently signed a contract extension with Liverpool and might be able to win a Premier League medal this season, Real Madrid are confident that they will be able to activate the buy-out clause in Suarez’s contract.
According to The Sun, Real Madrid will be looking to sign Suarez before the start of the World Cup as his price might shoot up if he performs spectacularly at Brazil. A source told the newspaper that Real Madrid are very keen to sign Suarez who apparently ticks all the ‘boxes’ for the Spanish giants.
“Florentino Perez will just come and ‘swoosh’.”
“He will prize Suarez away. He is their No 1 target.”
“He ticks all the boxes and is easily the world’s best player behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.”
But Liverpool will not be ready to let go of their prized striker and will be looking to hold off any bids like they did against Arsenal last summer. However Real Madrid are no Arsenal and are reportedly ready to break the bank for the Uruguayan international who was recently crowned the PFA Player of the Year. Incidentally, Real Madrid are also signed last year’s Player of the Year, Gareth Bale, who is slowly coming good for the Los Blancos as the season draws to an end.
On the brink of staging a come-back, Liverpool have assembled a brilliant team this season and are in the contention for winning the Premier League after several years. Hence it is quite natural that they will look to retain the Uruguayan who is the heart of the team at Anfield. But the fact that Suarez was keen to move to Madrid last season could swing the deal in Real Madrid’s favour. Liverpool will be helpless in retaining Suarez if the player himself insists on leaving the Reds and if Real Madrid can put forward an attractive bid on the table.
So how will the summer pan out for Luis Suarez? Are we in for another transfer drama like last year or will Luis Suarez be able to ward off the temptation to be the next ‘galactico’? We shall soon find out.
