With the massive job of rebuilding the Manchester United squad in front, David Moyes has turned his attention towards Arsenal’s summer target Antoine Griezmann as a possible addition in the next transfer window.
Antoine Griezmann has been on red-hot form for Sociedad this summer and is reportedly being linked with several European powerhouses this summer. Arsene Wenger has openly admitted his admiration for the 22 year old winger who has scored a total of 19 goals this season.
Talking to Telefoot, the French manager accepted that Arsenal have been monitoring the youngster as a possible target for the next transfer window.
“Yes, we follow him in great detail. That should not come as a surprise because he attracts other clubs as well.”
“But we follow him, he is a known commodity.”
However it seems that Arsene Wenger has found himself a rival in David Moyes who will be looking to bring the French winger to Manchester to strengthen his squad. Manchester United scout David Friio who has been tracking Griezmann’s progress at Real Sociedad declared his admiration for the youngster and said that the his presence in the French squad will benefit the team in the upcoming World Cup.
“Greizmann would clearly bring something. His versatility and technique, in a tournament where the gaps are reduced, are real assets.”
“You can’t score 15 goals in a great league without having real qualities.”
The Frenchman is one of the most promising wingers in Europe at the moment and is apparently being chased by the likes of Juventus, Real Madrid and PSG. However United will look to woo the youngster whose pace, dribbling abilities and a natural talent for scoring goals will prove to be a breath of fresh air at Old Trafford. United are currently bringing Janujaz up the ranks and the youngster has proven himself worthy of the opportunity gifted to him by Moyes. Though Janujaz and Greizmann both prefer to play on the left flank, the duo have the ability to lead the attack while playing on the right flank as well. Valencia and Young have been repeatedly poor for United this year and their lack of creativity on the wings has proven costly for David Moyes. With Kagawa reportedly looking to draw the curtains on his career with United, it will make perfect sense for David Moyes to build a team of young talent around Wayne Rooney if he is to stick with the job for the near future.
Meanwhile in a attempt to bolster his defence, David Moyes is reportedly looking at ex-Liverpool player Gabriel Paletta to bring to Old Trafford. The Argentinian Centre-Back has been on great form for Parma this season and his exploits have not gone unnoticed.
With Patrice Evra and Rio Ferdinand set to leave Old Trafford this summer along with Nemanja Vidic, Paletta will be a good addition at United and his experience will help a relatively inexperienced side cope with the pressure of playing high-level European football. David Moyes will have to build up his defence from scratch and the 28 year old defender will prove to be a good investment for a side that is prone to conceding goals this season.
However United will have be facing tough competition from Tottenham Hotspurs who have been keeping an eye on Gabriel Paletta this season. With his contract running till 2017, Parma will look to extract a huge amount of money for their star defender and the transfer might turn into a bidding war between the clubs from England this summer.
