According to reports, Chelsea are set to make Eden Hazard their highest-paid player in order to shake off suitors such as PSG and Real Madrid. Hazard is rumoured to be offered a new £200,000-a-week five-year contract and is expected to star under Jose Mourinho in the years to come.

Having signed for Chelsea in 2012 from Lille OSC, Hazard’s current contract runs till 2017. The Belgian has taken Stamford Bridge by a storm since  his arrival and has established himself as one of the hottest young property in Europe with his performances. However the Blues winger has been repeatedly linked with a move back to France with PSG keen on signing the young talent. But it seems that Chelsea are desperate to tie Hazard down at Stamford Bridge and are willing to dig deep into their pockets to convince the Belgian.

Manager Jose Mourinho had earlier stated that there would be no problems between Chelsea and Eden Hazard over the player’s contract extension. Though the manager had his differences with Hazard last season, he has gone on record to say that the Belgian is an important component of his plan at Chelsea.

Hazard had questioned Mourinho’s tactics after losing out to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last season with the manager retorting that the player was not giving his 100% in the games.

“Eden is the kind of player who is not so mentally ready to look back at his left-back and lay down his life for him. If you see Atletico’s first goal, you understand where the mistake was and why we conceded that goal. When the comments come from a player like Eden, it’s normal. He’s not the kind of player who is ready to sacrifice himself 100 per cent for the team and his mates. But at the same time, the comments were not critical. I’m not happy when a player doesn’t sacrifice himself and I’ve spoken all season and I’ve tried to improve him.”

However Hazard has earned his way back into Mourinho’s good books and the winger is expected to play a central role for Chelsea in the years to come. The Portuguese admitted that he is working hard with Hazard to turn him into a ‘decisive’ player and with the Belgian due to sign his contract extension soon, the dynamic partnership is bound to reap rewards for Chelsea.

“I love to work with him. I love the kid. He will always have my support. He knows my nature. Our relationship is at a point where I can tell him anything. He knows I like him a lot. We are fine because of that.”
