New Real Madrid signing Toni Kroos has said that he has made a leap forward in joining Spanish giants from Bayern Munich.

Toni Kroos completed his move to Real Madrid from Bayern Munich yesterday and the World Cup winner feels that it was a right decision to join Los Blancos.

“From the beginning when it was clear I would leave Munich I wanted to come to Madrid,” Kroos was speaking to Madrid based daily Marca. “There were no other options. Going to Madrid was my number one choice. It’s a step above Bayern.”

Toni Kroos feels that the desire of Real Madrid management to get him was the key motivator behind his decision. “Madrid have worked hard to get me and all went well. I’m happy about that.

“When I first started at Bayern there was only one option, to win trophies. Now I’ve come here I’ve seen it’s the same. We have to win trophies.”

“I know I’m at a very successful club and I will do everything possible for this to continue. It’s a great challenge for me, to win trophies with this team. The goal is to win all competitions.”

Santiagao Bernabeu, home ground of Real Madrid, is known for its noisy fans and Kroos said that he is in love with this iconic stadium. “The atmosphere (at the stadium) is always amazing. Every time we came here we had a hard time. That’s why I think playing here is going to be really great; I’m going to really enjoy it”, the midfielder noted.

The rumours of his potential transfer from Bayern Munich to Real Madrid was the biggest story of the early part of this summer window but Kroos said that he was always aware of his future destination.

“I can’t say the exact date. Contact was a long time ago. It was before the World Cup and that was the important thing,” he said.

“I knew of the interest of Madrid and I was interested in it. I told [Germany Coach] Joachim Low in Brazil because he had a right to know. He congratulated me and told me Madrid is a team of the highest level.

“I was at Bayern for a long time and won everything. I had a great time in Munich. It’s good for me to take another step and it’s with Real Madrid.”

Now, the arrival of Toni Kroos is expected to open the exit door for his countryman Sami Khedira as English side Arsenal is eager to sign him in next few days.
