Real Madrid have announced the signing of Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez on a season-long loan deal.
Real Madrid were in the market for a striker who can operate as deputy of Karim Benzema and Radamel Falcao was their preferred target. This deal failed to materialize and Real Madrid turned their attention towards Manchester United outcast Javier Chicharito Hernandez.
“Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández (Guadalajara, Mexico, 01-06-1988) is now a Real Madrid player. The 26-year-old striker joins the club from Manchester United, where he scored 59 goals in 154 official matches and won two league titles and three Community Shields.” a statement on the club’s official website reads.
“The news means that Real Madrid have added to their strikeforce with a pacey player who is particularly adept in the area.
“In addition to having a great shot with both feet, he is also outstanding in the air. Despite his youth, Chicharito is already the star of his national side, where he averages more than one goal in every two matches (36 in 66).”
Real Madrid sold Alvaro Morata to Juventus earlier in the summer for 20 million euros and they were in the market for new striker since then.
The Los Blancos were linked with a move for AS Monaco star Radamel Falcao but the deal didn’t took place and the player has joined Manchester United today.
Real Madrid already have splashed huge cash on summer arrivals like Toni Kroos, Kaylor Navas and James Rodriguez. And the club was not interested in spending more money on new striker as Karim Benzema enjoys full confidence of Carlo Ancelotti.
Louis van Gaal, new boss of Manchester United, had already made it clear that Hernandez is no more required at the club and the arrival of Radamel Falcao sealed the fate of the Mexican.
Meanwhile, Javier Hernandez is expected to struggle for a regular playing time at Real Madrid too. The European champions have too many attacking options and coach Carlo Ancelotti is expected to use Hernandez sparingly.
Javier Hernandez will be unveiled to the media in the press room of Real Madrid on Monday at 16:30CET
