Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has claimed that Bayern Munich are the favourites to win the Champions League this season.

Real Madrid are looking for ‘La Decima’ – their 10th European Cup – under the Italian coach. However, Ancelotti has insisted that the Bundesliga outfit are favourites to retain their crown. The Blancos coach is intent on making history in the European Cup this season but has been very cautious with his word selection.

“The Décima is a big motivation for all of us. We have nine [European Cups], we’re all waiting for the tenth and we will do all we can to get it,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“Our rivals? All sides are dangerous. In the quarters onwards all teams are competitive, although Bayern are the favourites.”

However, the Italian is of the opinian that the prospect of winning a 10th European Cup is driving on his players.

The Liga leaders have one foot in the last eight of the competition after thrashing Schalke 6-1 at the Veltins-Arena in the round of 16 last week. “La Decima is a big motivation for all of us. We have nine [European Cups], we’re all waiting for the tenth and we will do all we can to get it,” he said.

The former Chelsea manager also commented on the race for the league title, and his surprise at the form of Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.

“The league is uncertain, the distances are very small and it’s all to play for. Our growth? We lost time trying to find our equilibrium, it was hard but now we’re more solid and doing things better.

“I’ve been surprised by all of them a little. I have a very professional group of players, who work well together.

“These players might possess the most quality, but the others are a young, motivated group.”

Los Blancos sit one point clear at the top of La Liga following a 2-2 draw with title rivals Atletico Madrid.

MilanNew AC Milan Coach Seedorf to seek Ancelotti advice

Newly appointed AC Milan coach and the former midfielder Clarence Seedorf has revealed that he will seek advice from his ex-boss and current Real Madrid man.

“We bumped into each other today and had a bit of a chat,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“The derby was a great battle, especially in the first half. I won’t have second thoughts about calling Carlo for any information.”

Ancelotti then commented on the Rossoneri’s match with the Rojiblancos.

“I wish Seedorf a lot of luck, even though Atlético are the favourites. It will take a big effort from Milan.

“It will be an intense game because Atlético will give everything. For them reaching the quarter finals is a big goal and there will be a great atmosphere.

“We will need to see the best Milan.”
