Bayern Munich has stepped up its attempts to sign Real Madrid’s midfielder Sami Khedira and the club is confident of beating Arsenal in chase of the German.

Sami Khedira’s contract with Real Madrid expires in June 2015 and in spite of ongoing talks between the two parties, no progress has been made about the extension of the same, yet.

Bayern Munich has sensed this as an opportunity to get its man and reportedly, it has already initiated talks with the representatives of Sami Khedira.

The current contract situation of Sami Khedira at Real Madrid has also caught the attention of host of other European clubs, including Arsenal and Man United but Bayern Munich is confident of beating the competition.

Meanwhile, reports coming from Spain and Germany have also confirmed the lead taken by Bayern Munich over Arsenal for Sami Khedira. Pro-Real Madrid daily Marca has claimed today that the Bavarian giants are regarded with suspicion in Madrid, where there is a feeling that Bayern still holds a personal grudge over the loss of Toni Kroos and is determined to get even. The fans remain unable to understand, let alone accept, Kroos’s departure and the higher-ups at the Allianz Arena want to respond with a coup that could heal some of those wounds.

Real Madrid has lost Luka Modric due to long term injury and coach Carlo Ancelotti is not particularly in favour of Sami Khedira leaving the club in January. The Italian boss has said this on numerous occasions that he wants Sami Khedira to extend his stay but fears that the midfielder will join the “German Club of Rebels” which includes Toni Kroos and Marco Reus.

However, Sami Khedira had claimed it last week that he wants to sign an extension with Real Madrid. But inspite of his most recent comments, authorities at Bayern Munich believe that they can persuade him to come to Allianz ArenA.

The Bavarian giants are facing continuous injury problems to their midfielders this season and Bayern Munich’s coach Pep Guardiola believes that the Real Madrid midfielder could be the answer.

Meanwhile, apart from Bayern Munich, English Premier League side Arsenal is also genuinely interested in signing Sami Khedira from Real Madrid. But it appears that the interests of Arsenal has dropped in recent months.
