Arsenal have made a contact with the agent of Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos and they are ready to make an offer for the player who refused to extend his contract with the Los Blancos last week.

Arsenal are on the lookout for a new world class defender and the news of Ramos’ refusal to sign the contract extension have put them on alert.

Sergio Ramos is widely considered as one of the best defenders of the game and apart from Arsenal, host of other Premier League clubs, including, Chelsea and Man United, are keeping a tab on the defender.

Real Madrid won their fourth trophy of this season last week and Sergio Ramos was the best player of Los Blancos in the Club World Cup in Morocco. Ramos scored in both, semis and the finals, to help Real Madrid secure the trophy and the management of the ten time European Champions offered him the contract extension immediately after the teams’ return from Morocco.

However, Sergio Ramos has yet to decide on his future with Real Madrid.

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has already asked president Florentino Perez to offer Ramos an extension but the player himself remains undecided about his future.

Meanwhile, reports coming from Spain and England have confirmed the contact made by Arsenal with the agent of Sergio Ramos. Spanish newspaper AS has claimed in its report that Arsenal have reportedly held talks with the agent of Real Madrid star Sergio Ramos amid speculation the defender is ready to walk out on the European champions.

English Premier League side Chelsea has emerged as the early favorites for the signature of Sergio Ramos but Arsenal are also confident of getting their man.

Defence remains the biggest area of concern for Arsene Wenger as Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker have not performed according to the expectations for the Gunners this season. Fitness concerns of Laurient Koscielny have also forced Arsenal to look elsewhere in the transfer market.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid management is not at all willing to let Sergio Ramos go and they have a meeting planned with the representatives of the defender in the second half of January. Arsenal wants to sign Ramos in the winter transfer window but it looks almost impossible that they will get their man next month.
