Real Madrid beat San Lorenzo by 2-0 to lift the Club World Cup and the scorer of the winning goal, Gareth Bale, has said that the Los Blancos are the best team in the world now.
A header from Sergio Ramos in the 37th minute was followed up by a second-half strike from Gareth Bale as Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid finished 2014 in style.
Club World Cup is the 4th trophy of Real Madrid in 2014 and this victory over San Lorenzo was their 22nd consecutive win. Sergio Ramos scored through a brilliant header on Toni Kroos’ corner while Gareth Bale took the benefit of San Lorenzo keeper Sebastian Torrico’s mistake to score the winner in the 51st minute.
Gareth Bale said after the game that Real Madrid are now the best team in the world. “For us it’s a massive tournament to win and to show we’re the best team in the world is amazing,” said Gareth Bale. He was speaking to Goal.com.
“It’s been a great year all round. Winning the Champions League, winning the Super Cup, winning the Copa del Rey and now this, it’s been a great year and hopefully there’s more to come. We need to keep concentrating on each and every game and hopefully we’ll achieve what we know we can.”
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has won 4 major trophies in his debut season and the Italian boss said after this victory that he is very proud of his players.
Ancelotti said: “I’m really happy because we’ve finished the year well. It’s been an unforgettable year for us all. We worked hard and made it through a tough game and.”
“I feel a lot of things. Pride, happiness… I’m at a club with fantastic players. We can keep going and look to the club’s future with a real sense of optimism. The team deserved to win this trophy. I think we can say that Real Madrid are the best team in the world at the moment.”
Sergio Ramos was the best performer of Real Madrid in Club World Cup and Ancelotti also praised the displays of the defender. “Ramos scored in both the final and the semi-final. He also scored in the Champions League final and semi-final. I’d rather talk about all the players though, because we’re a team.”
