As the new season is just around the corner, Atletico Madrid have signed Club America star Raul Jimenez for 6 years.
In a quest to bolster their attack, defending La liga champions Atletico Madrid have successfully roped in another quality forward in their line up in Raul Jimenez.
Jiminez, who has already scored 4 goals in the ongoing Apertura league will now be heading to Madrid, where he will be playing alongside Mario Mandzukic at forward position.
The Club America star has been transferred to Atletico for a transfer fee of 10 million euros, tying him up with the club till the 2020 season.
The Club America’s official twitter account confirmed the news, which read “Raul Jimenez is an Atletico Madrid player,Extend your wings and fly high.”
Atletico’s sporting director Jose Luis Perez Caminero believed that with Jimerez’s inclusion in the side, his team is all geared up to defend their La liga title in the coming season.
He said “Raul Jimenez is a player with enormous promise and will complete our offensive line, He has a lot of desire to succeed in his leap to European football and his hope is that he will adapt quickly to our league.”
After the departure of Diego Costa, who was instrumental in Atletico’s La liga success last season. The club signed in Mario Mandzukic from Bayern Munich, who also has been impressive with his consistent performances for the German giants.
Raul Jimenez, 23, has impressed many with his attacking attributes and excellent finishing skills. He was an integral part of Mexico’s Olympic gold medal winning team. Though he hardly got any chance to prove his talent in the recently concluded world cup, as he found himself mostly on the bench throughout the tournament, 35 goals in 98 matches for his club in the Mexican league stands testimony to the kind of talent and skills that he possess .
Atletico Madrid, who are looking to solidify their attack have seized onto the opportunity to grab the talented Mexican, who will team up with Mario Mandzukic, which will form a formidable force up front for the La liga title holders in the upcoming season.
