Lazio’s Antonio Candreva is a wanted man all across Europe as the likes of PSG, Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and Juventus are hoping to rope in the player during the upcoming transfer window.
Candreva is a traditionally a winger but he can play as a Number 10 as well. The 27 year old initially joined Lazio from Udinese on a loan deal in 2012 but eventually moved on a co-ownership to the capital for an amount of €1.7 million on a four year contract. Lazio are looking to buy out Udinese’s share and attain full ownership of the player. Candreva, valued at €16.5 million, provided six assists and netted 12 goals in his 37 appearances for Lazio this season.
Reports in Italy suggest that Paris St. Germain boss Laurent Blanc, is now keen on bring in the Lazio winger Candreva to the Parc des Princes and is favoring the Italian’s transfer ahead of Chelsea man Eden Hazard. Blanc believes that Candreva offers similar attacking threat as Hazard and would cost a lot lesser.
Italian rivals Juventus are also interested in the player and have apparently been monitoring his situation for a while now. The Italian giants want to rope in the player as they look for depth and quality for next season. Candreva already spent half a season on loan with La Vecchia Signor and scored two goals in the time being.
Liverpool too, are looking at the experienced midfielder as a player they want to bring as the Reds prepare for Champions League next season. The Reds want depth in their squad and need quality players in the depth as they prepare to make another title challenge next season along with participating in the other three competitions. Brendan Rodgers’s side did well in the league in this campaign but fell short in the penultimate stage and the lack of depth in the squad has been cited as one reason. The 27 year old winger offers a lot of quality and the crucial experience with him and its reported that the Liverpool boss is interested in acquiring the player.
Atletico Madrid are the other notable side competing for his signature. Diego Simeone’s team won the league and came second in the Champions League. The Lazio winger has been reported as one of Atletico’s targets for the summeras the club prepares to get reinforcements for next season.
According to Il Messaggero, the Italian could receive three times his current salary if he leaves Lazio for Atletico Madrid or Juventus.
The likes of Manchester United, Napoli, Everton and Inter Milan have also been linked with the player, on and off.
Candreva is part of the Italian squad for Brazil and wants to sort out his future quickly to avoid distractions. With the amount of clubs interested in the player, a bidding war seems likely. Lazio would definitely get a sizable sum for his sale and if they want to keep the talented winger within their ranks, they would probably need to offer the 27 year old an increased contract.
