Manuel Pellegrini responded to stories linking forward Sergio Aguero with a trasnfer away to suitors such as Real Madrid:
“I don’t think the idea of Sergio is to leave Manchester City.Sergio is very happy here. You never know what can happen in the future, but he is a very important player here. Big clubs do not sell their best players and I don’t think Sergio will be going anywhere.”
Aguero has so far managed to to score 26 goals and get 12 assists in 28 matches in all competitions for City this season, despite being injured for large parts of the campaign.
Manchester City may have shockingly gone down against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup tie, but Manuel Pellegrini is still a relatively confident man. The City manager knows his side have the credentials and has asked his players to step up and avenge their 2-0 defeat against Barcelona when the two sides lock horns in the reverse fixture at Nou Camp in the Champions League. He has asked his side to forget the Wigan loss and quickly refocus for the vital Champions League clash. The Chilean said:
“It’s a game we are losing 2-0 so it’s a difficult game. We must react tomorrow morning with the responsibility for what happened today but with a lot of trust about what we can do in the future. We will try and play a good game there and see what happens.”
“I think we all work together, we all have a responsibility to win. We finished one trophy and we won that. Now we have to continue playing the Champions League and Premier League. We have a lot of things to fight for until the end of the season.
“First we must try to win in Barcelona and then continue to try to reach the top of the table with the three games we have in hand.We must react. We still have a possibility. We will try to do a very good game and we will see what happens against Barcelona.
“Winning always gives you confidence but maybe a game like this can bring a reaction from the team. It could be positive.”
Pellegrini had earlier blasted his team after crashing out of the FA Cup against Championship side Wigan:
“I think maybe it was the worst we have played here in a year. We didn’t have the pace to play against a team that is in a very good moment. We knew before the match we were going to play against a difficult team and maybe we thought it was not so difficult and when we reacted it was too late.”
