Juventus Director General Giuseppe Marotta has insisted that there is not truth behind media reports of negotiation with Manchester United for Arturo Vidal.
After months of speculation and rumours, the longest running soap opera of this transfer window is yet to reach a conclusion. Arturo Vidal has been linked with a move to Manchester United throughout this summer, but Juventus Director General Giuseppe Marotta has insisted that there is not truth behind these reports of talk between both the club for the transfer of the Chilean international.
Arturo Vidal’s future at Juventus has come under a lot of speculations with the Chilean international being linked with a move to Old Trafford. But there have been contradicting reports in Italian media, some of which suggest that Manchester United decided against pursuing their interest as they are unwilling to meet Juventus’ valuation, while other insists that the Red Devils are still pursuing their interest in him. The midfielder meanwhile remained calm about his future and has stated that he will be happy to extend his stay in Italy if the move to Manchester United fails to materialize.
Juventus have insisted that the player is not in the market and that he will be sold only when he personally asks for Manchester United, while Chile’s World Cup manager Jorge Sampaoli insisted that the deal is being held up only due to van Gaal’s concern about Vidal’s fitness, who underwent a knee surgery ahead of the World Cup.
Giuseppe Marotta has however dismissed claims of any negotiation between Juventus and Manchester United and has labelled them as nothing more than media speculations.
“The negotiation has mostly been fuelled by the media. There has been talk of Manchester United and Bayern Munich interested in him but the facts are different.
“He never asked to leave because he had recently extended his contract with us and there were no bids. There are all the conditions why Arturo stays here.” – The Juventus director said.
Marotta has also insisted that the club is currently in negotiation with Paul Pogba’s agent for a new contract and is confident of securing the Frenchman’s long term future.
“With Pogba and his agent we started a negotiation and I am optimistic that there may be an agreement soon.” – Marotta added.
He also disclosed that both Gianliugi Buffon and Giorgio Chiellini are close to signing a new contract as well.
“The Buffon contract is ready. It is up to him to decide when to come and sign and decide when to stop playing football.
“Chiellini’s contract is in the home stretch.” – He said in an interview.
