FC Barcelona attacker Neymar has said that his teammate Leo Messi and Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo are on another level than any other player and that reaching them is not an easy feat.
FC Barcelona star Leo Messi and Real Madrid icon Cristiano Ronaldo have won last six Fifa Ballons d’Or between them and one of them is expected to lift the trophy again next month.
Neymar joined FC Barcelona in the summer of 2013 but he has been overshadowed by Lionel Messi at the Catalan club. But he still is considered as one of the best young talents of world football. However, Neymar has doubts that he has the ability to reach the same level as Messi and Ronaldo.
“I don’t know if I’ll ever be as good as Messi or Cristiano. They’re better than everybody else out there right now. It’s hard to compete with them. I just hope to keep improving and bettering myself every day,” said Neymar. He was speaking to the Brazilian magazine “Globoesporte”.
Neymar also said that he is not fully satisfied with his performances for FC Barcelona and he is trying to improve every day. “Things take time. I’m improving every day, every season. I think it’s been a good experience. I was happy at Santos, but was looking for a change of scenery, with bigger challenges, and I hope to continue being happy”.
To conclude, Neymar took stock of 2014. He said that it was a year of learning for him at FC Barcelona. “It was a year of learning. I had my ups and downs. I know I have to keep improving my game and can’t just rest on my laurels. I have to get better and better. That’s the lesson I learnt during 2014”.
Meanwhile, FC Barcelona attacker Pedro Rodriguez has said that Messi deserves to win the Ballon d’Or as the FC Barcelona sensation is better than everyone, including arch rival Cristiano Ronaldo.
“Ronaldo has accumulated good statistics in the past year,” the Spain international told reporters after a charity match on Friday. “But Leo Messi is superior to everyone. He must win the Ballon d’Or”.
