Tottenham Hotspur‘s new manager Mauricio Pochettino is planning to take his Southampton captain Adam Lallana to White Hart Lane.
The rise of Southampton from Premier League relegation candidates to a top 10 side has been credited to manager Mauricio Pochettino. The credit is equally shared between his players, and Southampton captain Adam Lallana had played an instrumental role in their success. Adam Lallana along with Rickie Lambert, Jay Rodriguez, Morgan Shneiderlein, Dejan Lovren and Luka Shaw are the rocks in which Mauricio Pochettino built his empire at the St.Mary’s.
As the Argentine manager Mauricio Pochettino embarks on a new journey with Tottenham Hotspur, the possibility of bringing few of his top wards might appeal to him. Tottenham Hotspur has an array of talent available at White Hart Lane. Despite the acquisition of 7 players in a 110 million outlay last summer, Tottenham failed to fire in all cylinders. Mauricio Pochettino’s first task will be to add the missing pieces in Tottenham jigsaw to guide them to a UEFA Champions League spot next season.
Left Back and Left Wing are two genuine areas of concern for the White Hart Lane based team. Southampton has a gem in Luke Shaw at the left back position, who is a transfer target of Manchester United and Chelsea. The amount quoted for him is 30 million and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham chairman will approve such a significant outlay after last summer’s spending spree. Tottenham are also monitoring the situation of S.S Lazio defender Stefan Radu, who will be a much cheaper alternative.
Despite having a plethora of talented wingers in Aaron Lennon, Andros Townsend, Nacer Chadli, Erik Lamela and attacking midfielders Gylfi Sigurdsson and Lewis Holtby, Tottenham’s left midfielder role had to be occupied by charismatic play-maker Christian Eriksen. Mauricio Pochettino won’t be willing to deploy his most creative outlet in a wide role and will be looking for options to fill the void.
Southampton captain Adam Lallana, who played in a free role, can occupy such a role at North London and is well versed with Mauricio Pochettino’s ideas and tactics. Bringing the Saints captain might be an option for Tottenham management as well. Adam Lallana is a target of Liverpool and Manchester United, and was hopeful of securing a move in the summer.
With Mauricio Pochettino at the helm of affairs at Tottenham Hotspur, they might fancy their chances of bringing the England international to White Hart Lane. Guardian has reported that Mauricio Pochettino is targeting Adam Lallana. They believes that the manager and captain enjoyed a close working relationship at Southampton and that might prove out to be crucial factor if Tottenham are to trump Liverpool’s Champions League offer.
Can Mauricio Pochettino convince Adam Lallana to join him at Tottenham Hotspur to form a vital cog in his 5-year plan?
