Manchester City’s boss Manuel Pellegrini claims that financial restrictions have handed an advantage to their rivals, for the Premier League crown. Manchester City dismissed Hull City 3-0, and minimized the deficit between them and Chelsea FC to zero. Still, Pellegrini believes that Chelsea FC have an added advantage, given that Manchester City are not able to spend money.
“When you have restrictions you give a lot of advantage to other teams. I think if you want to be a competitive team you cannot give an advantage to other teams.” said Pellegrini
“I think maybe a squad is not just money – as you say, most of you say, every time. This year we have restrictions on the amount we spend and the amount of players we have.
Manchester City has turned their season around. The Citizens were reeling at the bottom of their UEFA Champions League group and were nine points adrift of Chelsea FC. But Manchester City, stepped up their ante, dished out decent performances and now as a result of their hardwork have qualified for the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 and are on par with Chelsea FC.
“I don’t know what Chelsea will think. I know three weeks ago we were nine points behind and close to elimination from the Champions League. We were a team that depends just on Sergio Agüero. So I think that maybe this is a miracle. But the miracle has a name – that is work.”
“We try to win as much points as we can in the Premier League because I repeat, both competitions have the same importance for us,It’s very important to do well in the Champions League but not leaving the Premier League out; the possibility to win the title.
With Aguero, Dzeko and Jovetic sidelined, Manchetser City one again displayed their sheer class, as they sunk Hull City 3-0. However, James Milner operated as a striker for Manchester City in a false nine role. With injuries taking a toll Manuel Pellegrini has reserved this false nine formation as a backup for emergency and believes that the team will not build not this.
“I don’t think it’s a system we’ll adopt in the future,” he said. “Normally it is better for me to play with one striker or maybe two strikers in some moments.”
With the hectic Christmas period ahead, Manchester City have already piled pressure on Chelsea FC, who now play away to Stoke City. Manchester City would hope to continue with their impressive form and bag all points during the Christmas period.
