Arsenal are interested in signing Mats Hummels from BVB but Manchester United are ready to outbid them for the signature of the German, while the Old Trafford outfit is also closing in on Juan Cuadrado of Fiorentina.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has already told the club management that he wants to sign at least one quality defender during this transfer window and Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels is his preferred target. Arsenal lost captain Thomas Vermaelen to FC Barcelona last week and reportedly, Arsene Wenger is also a big admirer of Mats Hummels.

Reports coming from Germany claim that Manchester United is aware of Arsenal’s interest in Hummels and the club is ready to outbid the Gunners in order to get their man. German newspaper Bild has confirmed the interest of both these English clubs in the player. Bild report claims that: “Arsenal are ready to challenge Manchester United for German centre-half Mats Hummels. So far United have failed to agree a fee with Borussia Dortmund for the World Cup winner, with the German club wanting a sum in excess of £25million. And the management of Manchester United is ready to outbid Arsenal.”

Manchester United are in the market for a world class central defender after the departures of both Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic. The club does have the likes of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans in their rank but newly appointed boss Louis van Gaal is not fully convinced about their quality yet.

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Mats Hummels since past few months but it seems that Arsenal have also entered the race to sign the German after the departure of Thomas Vermaelen.

However, it will be interesting to see whether Borussia Dortmund agrees to sale their key player as coach Jurgen Klopp has made it clear on numerous occasions that Hummels is not leaving the club this summer.

Manchester United Closing In On Juan Cuadrado

Reports coming from Spain suggest that Manchester United are the frontrunners for the signature of Juan Cuadrado as the interest of FC Barcelona appears to have cooled down now.

Colombian international Juan Cuadrado is almost guaranteed to leave the club this summer as the club president himself has claimed last week that he would allow the player to leave if “suitable” offer comes.

Fiorentina are asking for a fee in the region of 40 million euros for Cuadrado but Spanish newspaper Sport claim that FC Barcelona appear reluctant to splash this much cash on the Colombian.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is convinced about the quality of Juan Cuadrado and the club is clearly the frontrunner for the signature of the player now.
