French champions PSG have backed out from the race to sign Angel Di Maria and Manchester United are ready to take full benefit this opportunity as the club prepares an initial offer of £55m for the Real Madrid star.

European champions Real Madrid have already spent huge money on players like James Rodriguez, Toni Kroos and Keylor Navas so far and club president Florentino Perez wants to sale Angel Di Maria in order to settle the books.

Real Madrid want at least 75 million euros from the sale of Angel Di Maria which made Paris Saint Germain, early favorites for the signature of the midfielder, back out from the chase as UEFA has recently imposed a penalty of 60 million euros on them for not adhering to the rules of Financial Fair Play. Unlike Paris Saint Germain, Manchester United are in healthy financial condition and the club is willing to match the asking price of Real Madrid.

Reports coming from Spain and England have claimed today that Manchester United are ready to make an initial offer of £55m for Angel Di Maria next week. English newspaper Daily Express and Spanish daily Marca, both have run a front page story today, claiming that Manchester United are on a trail of midfielder.

Express report claims that: “Argentina international is ready to part ways with the Champions League winners after Carlo Ancelotti signed Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez after the World Cup, and Di Maria has his heart set on a switch to either France or England.”

Manchester United have planned a complete overhaul of their squad this summer and the likes of Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw have arrived at Old Trafford. However, Louis van Gaal is still not happy with the skill set of his squad and wants to sign at least one world class midfielder this summer.

Ed Woodward has already made clear that Manchester United will be spending big in the summer and considering the possible departure of Maroune Falliani, the signing of new midfielder looks eminent. Arturo Vidal was the early favorite to join Manchester United but the availability of Angel Di Maria and reluctance of Juve to sale the Chilean makes the Argentine international the first choice of United management.

Angel Di Maria was a key member of Real Madrid’s Champions League winning campaign last season and coach Carlo Ancelotti is a big admirer of his work ethic. The Italian is reportedly not happy with the decision of Florentino Perez to sale the Argentine international but the President wants to adhere to the rules of FFP and the departure of Di Maria is the only available option for him.
