Manchester United’s Ed Woodward is in discussions with Sporting Lisbon in an attempt to end the legal row and conclude Marcos Rojo’s transfer.
Manchester United have made the offer of £16million for Marcos Rojo but Sporting Lisbon have rejected the said bid. However, the player is keen to move to Manchster United and in order to force the move, he refused to train with the teammates yesterday. Another tumbling block in the proposed transfer is the contractual situation of the player which may turn into a legal row.
Manchester United management is keen to avoid the legal row and reports coming from England have claimed that Ed Woodward is in negotiations with the Sporting management to resolve the issue. The BBC report claims that: “Sporting have rejected United’s £15.9million bid for the 24-year-old. A complicated contractual situation may turn into a legal row, with Rojo’s advisors threatening action. But with the start of the Premier League season approaching, United are attempting to resolve the issue through negotiation.”
Manchester United have already signed left back Luke Shaw this summer but new boss Louis van Gaal is not happy with the skill set of the youngster and has asked the club to sign another player for this position. Marcos Rojo played extremely well in the World Cup for Argentina and Manchester United management thinks that he can be lured away from his current club Sporting Lisbon.
Meanwhile, Manchester United is not the only club interested in Marcos Rojo. Southampton have also made the enquiries about the player to Sporting.
Manchester United’s Van Gaal Is A Mad Genius: Paul Scholes
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has described new boss Louis van Gaal as a “mad genius”.
“I haven’t really come across him a lot,” said Scholes, He was speaking to BT Sport. “From what I’ve seen in pre-season he looks a bit mad to me. He’s a bit like a mad genius, he looks a bit crazy.
“I think he’s brought a bit of fear back into the players, which is no bad thing. I played for 20 years for Sir Alex Ferguson and he could be a scary man. Sometimes fear can bring performances out from you. There’s no doubt these players need to perform this year or they won’t be there for very long. Players will know where they stand, which is what you want. You knew where you stood with Sir Alex Ferguson. This manager has great experience with proper clubs and has been successful. Hopefully he can bring a bit of that to us.”
Manchester United will start their EPL campaign against Swansea City on this Saturday.
