Ángel di María has told Real Madrid he wants to leave, Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed
The Argentina international has told Los Blancos that he wants to quit the team and has rejected a new contract offered by the club, revealed Carlo Ancelotti.
Di María has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United and Paris St. Germain. Manchester United are apparently willing to spend up to £100m (in a package involving his fee and wages) to acquire the services of the player.
Amidst all the speculation, the Madrid team has refrained from commenting so far but coach Carlo Ancelotti finally spoke about Di María’s future on Thursday and confirmed that the 26-year-old has asked to leave.
“Di María asked to go in the summer and has rejected an offer from the club,” the manager said on the eve of Friday’s Super Cup second leg against Atlético Madrid
“The player has to look for a solution. If when the market closes he’s still here, he will work with us like last season and there will be no problem. He’s a Real Madrid player and until 31 August, as I’ve already said, anything can happen. I’m surprised to read that there seems to be some disagreement [about Di María] between the club and me. There’s no disagreement and we both think the same.”
Like di Maria, Sami Khedira has also been linked with a move away from the club. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been keen on adding steel to his midfield and has been targeting Khedira to do that. Chelsea too, have been interested in the 27 year old as Jose Mourinho wants a reunion with the player, someone he believes could make the Blues the most lethal Premier League side this season. The arrival of Toni Kroos this summer has put Khedira’s spot in the first team in jeapordy and the 27 year old has also rejected a contract .ESPN also claim that the player is eyed by the Bavarian giants and Khedira is keen on a move himself. They write: Sami Khedira is eager to join Bayern Munich as Real Madrid attempt to offload the Germany midfielder this summer, sources have told ESPN FC. Sources state Khedira has now instructed his representatives to investigate the possibility of a move to Bayern, with the Bundesliga champions pondering a potential move.
Ancelotti said in this regard, “It’s a different situation to Di María. He’s not asked to go. He’s rejected an offer to renew but has a year of contract. We’ll see what happens.”
