The management of Manchester United is prepared to activate the release clause of Benfica winger Enzo Perez.

Enzo Perez, 28, was a key member of Argentina squad which reached the final of World Cup in Brazil and has now become a hot property in the transfer market as Spanish side Valencia and Italian giants Inter Milan are interested in the services of the player.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has asked the club management to strengthen the squad in winter transfer window and Enzo Perez of Benfica is the preferred target of the Dutchman.

Meawhile, reports coming from England and Portugal have also confirmed the entry of Manchester United in chase of Enzo Perez. The Daily Express report claims that: “Manchester United are ready to meet the release clause of Benfica star Enzo Perez in January. The Argentina international, who helped his side finish second in the World Cup, was tipped to join the Red Devils during the summer following a successful season under Jorge Jesus, but the 28-year-old isntead opted to sign a new four-year deal.”

Spanish side Valencia are long term admirers of Enzo Perez and they are ready to meet the valuation of Benfica to get their man. Valencia currently sit in the second spot in La Liga and new owner Peter Lim believes that new enforcements in winter transfer window could help the club to secure a lucrative Champions League spot for next season. And they were in a pole position to secure the signature of Enzo Perez until the entry of Manchester United in the chase of the Argentina international.

Manchester United are being linked with host of a players nowadays as coach Louis van Gaal wants to keep his options open. The German duo of Julian Draxler and Marco Reus is also being linked with a move to Manchester United either in January or next summer.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has plenty of options available at his disposal for team selection at the moment but it now appears that he is still struggling to find the right balance as they have managed to win just 13 points from first 10 games of this season.

Juan Mata, who joined Manchester United from Chelsea in January, is constantly being linked with a move away from Old Trafford and the club management could decide to utilize the money coming from Mata’s sale for the purchase of Enzo Perez.

Meanwhile, Benfica management knows that it is going to be impossible to hold on to their star man and their only objective now is to secure maximum possible returns from the sale of Enzo Perez.
