Manchester United transfer target Luke Shaw is also attracting serious interest from Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea and David Moyes has a plan ready in order to beat the Special One for the signature of talented youngster.
A report in English newspapers Daily Mirror and Daily Star has claimed today that Man United boss David Moyes is preparing to make England starlet Luke Shaw the highest paid teenager in Premier League history.
He is planning to offer the Southampton left back £75,000 a week to sign for United, topping the £60,000 Adnan Januzaj receives. United face a battle with Chelsea and other top clubs to land the Southampton left back in the summer.
Saints are also set to open talks with their in-demand left-back. However, it is being reported that Shaw is a Chelsea fan and his parents live close to their Surrey training ground. But United are determined to pay whatever it takes to capture the £30m-rated defender.
The 18 year-old was assurance personified during his England debut against Denmark at Wembley on Wednesday evening. And with his price sure to rocket if he stars for the Three Lions at the World Cup in Brazil – Moyes will be looking to secure his target sooner rather than later.
Moyes is preparing for a clear-out at United this summer, and is reported to have been given a megabucks budget to bring in a host of star names to rebuild his struggling side. Blues boss Jose Mourinho is currently reluctant to match Saints’ sky-high valuation but Moyes is willing to stump up the cash for one of the hottest prospects in English football.
David Moyes Writes Open Letter to Fans; Thanks for Support
David Moyes has written to Manchester United’s season ticket-holders thanking them for their support and admitting that the season has gone far worse than he expected.
The letter, titled as “A WORD FROM THE BOSS”. In the letter Moyes writes: “While I knew that this job would be a challenge when I took it on, the difficult season we have experienced was not something that I envisaged, which I am sure is the case as well for you supporters – and my players, staff and I are desperate to compensate for that.
“You are accustomed to seeing a successful Manchester United and the backing you have given the players and me throughout the season has been incredible. Away from home the travelling fans have remained the best in the country while at Old Trafford your unwavering faith has been noticeable and hugely welcomed. Supporting your team when they are winning is easy but much harder when things are not going as well, and the loyalty you have shown us has been magnificent.”
Moyes goes on to state his certainty that “everything we have been through will make us a better, stronger team and club in the future. Over the years you have seen great winning sides here and, in time, I have absolutely no doubt that we will see great winning sides here again.”
