Manchester United are planning a January swoop for Arturo Vidal and Mats Hummels and the club is ready to offload Juan Mata in order to generate some money.

Manchester United splashed huge cash on new summer arrivals like Angel di Maria, Ander Herrera, Daley Blind, Luke Shaw and Radamel Falcao. However, the club failed to sign any specialist central back which was their first priority. Mats Hummels of Borussia Dortmund is the primary target of coach Louis van Gaal.

United also want to bring in Arturo Vidal from Juventus and they will have to spend huge money if they want to have any chance of getting both of their targets.

Reports coming from England have claimed that Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is ready to axe Juan Mata in order to make a room for Vidal and HUmmels. The Daily Mail report claims that: “Manchester United’s lavish spending has not finished. In January another £50million has been allocated to sign more players in the wake of this summer’s £150m-plus spending spree which culminated in the signing of Radamel Falcao. Arturo Vidal, Mats Hummels and Sami Khedira remain top targets. Juan Mata will be sold in January to accommodate a second wave of rebuilding under manager Louis van Gaal.”

Manchester United signed Juan Mata in January but the Spaniard has failed to perform according to the expectations so far. Louis van Gaal feels that Mata is not suitable to his playing style and new signing Angel di Maria is now favorite to start all the games ahead of the Spaniard.

Italian champions Juventus, AS Roma and Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Mata. However, problem before Manchester United is that none of these interested clubs are ready to make outright payment for him. All are interested in a one year loan deal.

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Arturo Vidal since long but they failed to get him during the summer transfer window. Now, the Old Trafford side is expected to make a move for him January. However, Juventus management is unlikely to grant a transfer in the middle of a season.

Manchester United are also interested in signing top quality defender as a replacement of Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic. Mats Hummels of BVB is a preferred target of coach Louis van Gaal and he has asked the club management to sign him during the winter transfer window.
