Manchester United are interested in signing Real Madrid left-back Fabio Coentrao and the club is plotting a January move for the Portuguese international.
The management of Manchester United is planning to splash more cash on new players in January and acquisition of top quality defenders is going to be their first priority. Fabio Coentrao is struggling to get regular playing time at Real Madrid and he has set his heart on a move to another club to secure regular playing time.
Meanwhile, reports coming from England have also confirmed the interest of Manchester United in the Real Madrid star. The report of Daily Express claims that: “Manchester United are ready to launch a bid for Fabio Coentrao after the Real Madrid star was made available for transfer. The Red Devils have struggled with numerous injuries to their defence this season, and boss Louis Van Gaal is keen to add reinforcements in the January window.”
Manchester United spent huge cash on the acquisition of Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo during the summer transfer window but it now appears that the young Englishman has not been able to convince coach Louis van Gaal with his skill set and Coetrao is being lined up as an alternative to the youngster.
Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has used Marcos Rojo in the midfield since his arrival which ultimately means that Shaw is the only left-back available at the disposal of the Dutch coach.
Manchester United have struggled with injuries this season as the likes of Phil Jones and Luke Shaw has spend more time on the dressing table than on pitch. The signing of Fabio Coentrao will prove a world class addition to their squad.
The Red Devils are also being linked with a move for AS Roma’s Ashley Cole on numerous occasions in past few months but it now appears that the Manchester United authorities has changed their mind and turned their attention to Fabio Coentrao, who is much younger and more talented than the former Chelsea star.
Meanwhile, the factor going in Manchester United’s favor with regards to the move for Fabio Coentrao is his inability to get regular playing time at Real Madrid.
Marcelo is the first choice left-back of Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti as the Brazilian has formed a greater understanding with Cristiano Ronaldo than the ex-Benfica man.
Fabio Coentrao is also attracting interest from a number of top European outfits, including Juventus and Paris Saint Germain, but Manchester United and Louis van Gaal believe that a lucrative offer and assurance of first team football will help them to get their man.
