Sami Khedira’s contract with Real Madrid is set to expire in June 2015 and keeping this in mind, Manchester United are planning a €13 million swoop of the German in January transfer window.

Sami Khedira is currently sidelined due to long term injury and the trio of James Rodriguez, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric has become a regular starter for Real Madrid now. And after struggling to find their rhythm in the early parts of the season, this trio looks settled now and Khedira is expected to struggle for a playing time once he returns from this injury. The management of Manchester United is well aware of this situation and they believe that Khedira can be lured away from Real Madrid in January transfer window.

Meanwhile, reports coming from England have also confirmed the interest of Manchester United in Sami Khedira. The Goal.com report claims that: “United have turned their attentions to the Germany World Cup winner after being informed by Roma that Louis Van Gaal’s No.1 midfield target Kevin Strootman will not be allowed to move when the transfer window reopens.”

Sami Khedira was linked with a move away from Real Madrid during the summer transfer window but the Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti persuaded the management of the club to keep him at the club and sale Xabi Alonso instead. But new arrivals Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez have formed a good partnership with Luka Modric and the contract situation of Khedira is not resolved yet.

The Real Madrid management does not want to open contract talks with Sami Khedira until he fully recovers from injury. Manchester United are hoping that Khedira will not sign the extension and an offer in the region of 13 million would be enough to lure him away from Los Blancos.

Manchester United splashed huge cash on new signings like Angel Di Maria, Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw, Daley Blind and Radamel Falcao during the summer transfer window but Louis van Gaal has asked the club to sign holding midfielder who can protect his leaky defence in January.

Arsenal were linked with a move for Khedira during the summer transfer window but they failed in their chase of the German. Meanwhile, it is believed that Khedira is only interested in a club who can offer Champions League football but Manchester United are ready to offer €255,000-a-week wages to the German.
