Manchester United have finally agreed the terms with Sporting Lisbon over the transfer of Marcos Rojo and the club is expected to announce the signing in next few days.
Manchester United made an offer of 20 million euros for Rojo in last week which was rejected by Sporting Lisbon. However, the player himself is eager to play for the Red Devild and it seems that he will be a United player in next few days.
Manchester United already have a deal in place with Marcos Rojo and the only remaining thing was the approval of the move by the parent club of the player. Goal.com has confirmed today that both the clubs have reached to an agreement and as a part of the deal, Nani will join the Portuguese club on permanent basis.
The goal.com report claims that: “Manchester United have agreed a €20 million deal for Sporting defender Marcos Rojo, with Nani going the other way on a season-long loan. Rojo is to move to Old Trafford after extensive negotiations between the two clubs, against the backdrop of the Argentina defender going on strike before apologising to his team-mates and supporters. With United covering the majority of Nani’s salary – one of the highest at the Premier League club – the deal is something of a triumph for Sporting president Bruno de Carvalho.”
Manchester United have already signed left back Luke Shaw from Southampton this summer but coach Louis van Gaal is not happy with the young English defender and he has asked the club management to sign another top quality player for the same position. Marcos Rojo was the stand-out performer of Argentina in the World Cup and the Red Devils have been linked with a move for the player since past few days.
Meanwhile, interesting part of Marcos Rojo transfer is the inclusion of Nani in the deal. Nani is surplus to requirements at Manchester United but Sporting Lisbon cannot afford the wage demands of the winger. But Goal.com report claims that substantial part of his wages will be paid by Manchester United.
Manchester United lost their season opener against Swansea City on Saturday and the club is expected to spend big in closing days of this transfer window.
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal wants to sign at least one central defender and one top quality midfielder in coming days. Mehdi Benatia of AS Roma and Arturo Vidal of Juventus are the preferred targets of Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal.
