Manchester United have got a big transfer boost as their long time target Kevin Strootman has told AS Roma management that he wants to move to the Old Trafford club in January.
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is a big admirer of Kevin Strootman’s talent and he had asked the management of the club to make a move for the Roma midfielder in summer itself. But Manchester United backed out due to the long term injury of Strootman.
However, Louis van Gaal is keeping himself updated over the injury status of Strootman since past few months as he still is interested in the player. And it now appears that Manchester United are on course to sign the player in January as Strootman himself has told the management of AS Roma to open talks with the English giants during the winter transfer window.
Meanwhile reports coming from Italy and England have also confirmed the eagerness of Strootman to join Manchester United. The Goal.com report claims that: “Kevin Strootman has told Roma that he wants them to negotiate with Manchester United over a potential switch to Old Trafford in January. The Netherlands star is closing in on a return from a serious knee injury and has long been pencilled in by Louis van Gaal as his ideal choice to improve United’s midfield.”
Manchester United splashed huge cash on the likes of Angel Di Maria, Radamel Falcao, Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind during the summer transfer window but coach Louis van Gaal is still struggling to find the right balance as they sit at eighth position in Premier League table.
Louis van Gaal believes that Kevin Strootman is the perfect candidate to add more vigor to his ailing midfield as the coach knows the game of Roma star very well.
Kevin Strootman currently earns around 32 thousand euros a week at AS Roma and Manchester United are ready to offer him more than hundred thousand euros as his basic wages.
However, the biggest concern ahead of Manchester United is the unwillingness of AS Roma management to part their ways with a talented youngster like Strootman. Roma has made huge progress since past few months as they directly qualified for Champions League this season and Strootman was their key player last year. The American owners of Roma have huge plans for the club and they are reluctant to sale any of their top stars.
