Napoli have expressed their interest in signing Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini, who faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford this season.

There has been a lot of speculation about the future of Marouane Fellaini at Manchester United, especially under the new manager Louis van Gaal. Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has expressed his interest in signing the Belgium international this summer.

The 26-year-old arrived at Old Trafford on a dramatic deadline day transfer last summer, after Manchester United failed to land their initial target Ander Herrera. But Fellaini, like his former Everton manager David Moyes, failed to make a significant impact on United’s fortune and also struggled with his fitness throughout the season.

Fellaini made 12 starts in the league and failed to score a goal in any competition. The Belgium international was often used by Moyes as a second striker, and a target man, at Everton and that is where is best arrived. But he struggled to integrate himself into the United midfield and failed to justify the big transfer the Red Devils paid for him.

Now with the arrival of Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford Fellaini’s future has come under a lot of speculations. Reports suggest that the Dutch manager believes Fellaini is not a ‘Manchester United player’ and has urged the club to sell him this summer.

Napoli have now confirmed their interest in signing Marouane Fellaini with club president Aurelio De Laurentiis revealing that the Belgium international is one of names on their ‘wanted’ list.

“Fellaini is one of the names that we are considering to strengthen our midfield, but it is not the only one.

“His hair could be in line with the Neapolitan style!” – De Laurentiis said in an interview.

He also confirmed that the club is willing to sell Valon Behrami, who is not a part of Rafa Benitez’s plan.

“There was no space for the player in the Rafa Benitez’s game and so we decided to satisfy his demands (to go away).

“Valon has always given so much to Napoli and it is right he’ll continue his career as a protagonist.” – He added.
