Paris Saint Germain are set to beat Manchester United as they near Angel di Maria deal.

It looks like Paris Saint Germain are close to negotiating a deal for Angel di Maria, according to reports

The French giants and Manchester United have been in for the Argentina star for a while now after it became obvious that the winger is surplus to requirements at Real Madrid. The acquisition of James Rodriguez from AS Monaco has further established the fact that di Maria doesn’t have an assured starting spot under Carlo Ancelotti next season.

PSG are not afraid of spending big, as has been observed in the previous few seasons. Manchester United too, are not deterred from breaking the bank and vice-chairman Ed Woodward has insisted this summer that United are prepared to spend heavily and even break the world record.

Louis van Gaal wants to make some more quality additions to his side before the end of the window and hinted at a move for the Argentinean just yesterday

“At this moment, we have five No.9s and four No.10s – and we don’t have wingers to give us attacking width. Or, I should say, we don’t have wingers of the highest level, like Ronaldo or Di Maria or somebody like that. So, I have to play in another way – and you have seen that already. I only buy when I think we need to buy – in the position that is necessary”, said Louis van Gaal

Unfortunately for the Dutchman, it seems like the Real Madrid man is heading to Paris. Reports in Spain claim that di Maria has instructed his agent Jorge Mendes to finalise the deal with PSG.

Spanish daily AS snapped a picture of Mendes, Perez and Real general manager Jose Angel Sanchez out at lunch to discuss the future of di Maria. Reportedly, the player has agreed a deal with the French capital club which will earn him £130,000-a-week after tax for five seasons.

A transfer fee between the two clubs is what was the remaining obstacle needing to be cleared as initially the Parisian club had made some complicated offers through which they were going to pay most of the fee next season. Los Blancos were not interested in such a deal and it seems now that the Ligue 1 side has decided to quit haggling and pay the Madrid side a sum in the region of £60m.

PSG will have Financial Fair Play to worry about but it has been indicated the Blanc and the rest of the management is extremely keen on the player and hence, PSG will deal about the FFP later.
