Manchester United defender Alexander Büttner has revealed that the arrival of Louis van Gaal has forced him to quit Old Trafford.

The 25-year-old arrived at Manchester United in 2012 from Dutch side Vitesse. But since his arrival he has failed gain regular first team action. The former Dutch U-20 international has made only 28 appearances for Manchester United in the last two seasons and has had to wait largely in the shadows of Patrice Evra, who is the first choice left back at the club. Buttner has also shown defensive vulnerability when called upon and his future at Old Trafford has always remained in doubts.

Now with the arrival of Dutch coach Luis van Gaal as the replacement of David Moyes, Alexander Buttner has decided to leave the club in search of regular first team action. The Dutchman has revealed that the main reason behind his decision is the appointment of van Gaal at the helm, someone who did provide him with too many opportunities in the national team squad. Buttner has insisted that van Gaal doesn’t believe in his abilities and that this is the right time to look for other options.

The Manchester United defender is now close to joining Russian side Dinamo Moscow and reports suggest that a medical has already been arranged.

“Van Gaal never gave me the chance in the Dutch national team, despite being voted man of the match 14 times at Manchester United.

“Apparently, he is not very confident about me. So I think this is the right moment to leave.” – The Manchester United left back said in an interview.

Buttner’s agent, Alexander Bursac, is confident about Buttner’s future in Moscow and the plans that the Russian club has.

“Dinamo Moscow have big plans. Staying at Manchester United was never an option this summer.

“In the last two years van Gaal has ignored him again and again. What kind of outlook is that for him?” – He said.

Dinamo Moscow finished fourth in their domestic league last season and earned a place in the Europa League, but Buttner is confident that the club can now push for a Champions League spot next season.

“I am convinced that the club can now challenge for the championship and then move into the Champions League.” – Buttner added.

Manchester United have already been linked with Southampton left back Luke Shaw, who is expected to be the first of many arrivals at Old Trafford in this transfer window. His arrival is likely to push Evra to a role on the bench next season.
