Uruguayan striker Edison Cavani might be on his way to Manchester United after reports emerged that the prolific goal-scorer is ‘unsettled’ at PSG.

Edison Cavani moved to PSG from Napoli in July last year for 64 million Euros and has  a contract that runs till June 2018 but it seems that the striker remains unsatisfied in Paris after playing second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Centre-forward has not been leading the attack as the position is currently occupied by the Swedish giant and has been pushed on the wings by Laurent Blanc. In his 17 starts in the French league, Cavani played as a centre-forward only 2 times this season and is reportedly looking for a move away from PSG

Reports link Cavani with Manchester United as the striker is apparently high on Moyes’ summer shopping list. The 27 year old was also linked with a move to Chelsea however Mourinho rubbished such claims citing that Chelsea do not have the money required to close such an expensive deal.

Meanwhile Uruguayan international Pablo Correa has sounded Cavani against a move to the Premier League.

“It would be a bad idea for him to go. I’m hearing it said that he’s unhappy at PSG, but Cavani doesn’t have an arrogant or egocentric personality like some big stars. The proof is that he’s very quickly adapted to Laurent Blanc’s system.”

When asked about his opinion on the French league, he dismissed claims that the Premier League was superior to its French counterpart.

“That debate doesn’t exist in Uruguay for the simple and good reason that Ligue 1 isn’t broadcast there, unlike the Premier League or La Liga.”

“On the other hand, people are interested in PSG and know that the club has the ability to become a huge team in Europe.”

Though Moyes has reportedly been given a huge budget for this summer’s transfer window, Cavani might not be the best option for the new manager to bring in to the squad. There is no doubt regarding the Uruguayan’s goal-scoring abilities but with the likes of Robin Van Persie and Chicharito in the squad, it will be wise for Moyes to invest the money in strengthening his midfield and defence. There are rumours doing the round that Van Persie might be on his way out and hence Cavani will fit right in the squad. However in the likelihood that the Dutch international does leave Old Trafford, it will be a better idea to play Rooney up front with Mata assisting him behind.

Meanwhile United summer target Tony Kroos has been advised by former manager Jupp Heynckes to stay put at Munich.

Kroos

Kroos has his eyes set on the World Cup

Heynckes identified the midfielder as a leader and said that it will be unwise for Tony Kroos to move away from a promising side such as Bayern Munich. He believes that a player with the potential to play for Bayern should not be distracted by clubs such as Real Madrid and Barcelona.

“Players who have Bayern quality and still are able to develop must never even spare a thought of leaving the club. One should not leave Bayern, not even for Real Madrid and Barcelona.”

Former Bayern manager believes that Tony Kroos has all the qualities to lead Bayern Munich in the future and should stay with the club and continue winning with the team.

“He can win with this team in the next four years and has everything to become the leader of this squad with his abilities.”

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Tony Kroos. The young midfielder has been integral to Guardiola’s plan at Bayern Munich but talks regarding his contract renewal have come to a halt after Kroos demanded parity with the likes of Franck Ribery in terms of wages.

Talking about his contract extension, the midfielder claimed that he is no hurry to extend his contract that runs out in 2015 and that he wants to concentrate on the upcoming World Cup before deciding on his future.

“We have focused on signing a new deal for some time however, we did not reach an agreement in January.”

“I want to fully focus on the 2014 World Cup. I do not want to discuss contracts during the tournament. There is no deadline for my future to be sorted.”

Manchester United are keenly monitoring the situation at Munich and are looking to sign the midfielder in summer. After dishing out a meaty contract to Wayne Rooney, Tony Kroos is sure to increase his wages if he does move to Old Trafford. According to reports, United are willing to offer Tony Kroos  a deal worth £250,000 to bring the German to Manchester. However it seems unlikely that Kroos will move from the historic Bayern side to a Manchester United that is struggling to qualify for Champions League under David Moyes.
