Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is extremely confident of signing Kevin Strootman from AS Roma but he will have to wait for another six months to get his man.
Kevin Strootman is being strongly linked with a move to Manchester United ever since the Red Devils have appointed Louis van Gaal as their manager and his transfer to the Old Trafford club looks mere a formality now as the player himself has set his heart on a move to the club.
Manchester United have made a strong comeback from their disastrous start to this season as they have won 5 consecutive games now. But coach Louis van Gaal still thinks that the services of Kevin Strootman are required if the club wants to challenge for the trophies in Europe again.
Meanwhile, reports coming from England have also confirmed that Manchester United are closing in on Kevin Strootman. The Daily Telegraph has claimed in its report that, Kevin Strootman could ingratiate himself with the red half of Manchester on Wednesday evening by playing a pivotal role in Roma’s attempts to progress to the Champions League knock-out stages at the expense of Manchester City, but in doing so, the midfielder may just delay a seemingly inevitable transfer to Old Trafford by six months.
Kevin Strootman, 24, is a box-to-box midfielder and Louis van Gaal feels that he could add great value to this Manchester United side which is badly struggling in the central area of the midfield at the moment. Manchester United did sign the likes of Ander Herrera and Daley Blind, who can play as central midfielders this summer, but Louis van Gaal is not particularly happy with this duo and wants Kevin Strootman to anchor his midfield next season.
Manchester United wanted to sign Kevin Strootman in the winter transfer window itself but the player is content on completing this season with AS Roma and then move to the English club. Kevin Strootman is an essential component of this AS Roma side and he do not want to leave the club in the middle of this season.
Meanwhile, the management of AS Roma is still hopeful of keeping Kevin Strootman with them next season as owner James Pallotta has some big plans for the club. But the player himself has agreed to move to Manchester United in the summer of 2015 and the management of AS Roma has no options but to accept the decision of the player.
