The future of Raphael Varane looks increasingly away from Real Madrid as the Premier League duo of Chelsea and Manchester United are ready to offer him a regular playing time and improved contract.

Raphael Varane, 21, is widely recognized as one of world football’s most promising defender and Chelsea and Manchester United are set to engage in a battle for the signature of the Frenchman.

Sergio Ramos and Pepe are currently ahead of Raphael Varane in the pecking order at Real Madrid and the Frenchman is not happy with the way his career is developing at the Santiago Bernabeu side as he wants a regular playing time.

The management of both, Chelsea and Manchester United, is aware that Raphael Varane is currently unsettled at Real Madrid and they are ready to offer him an escape.

Meanwhile, reports coming from England and Spain have also confirmed the interest of Manchester United and Chelsea in Raphael Varane.

English newspaper Daily Star has claimed in its report today that: “Gerard Pique remains United’s first choice target, but he is reluctant to leave the Nou Camp. Ron Vlaar is also on Van Gaal’s hit list, but he has suffered from injury this season and there are doubts over his long-term fitness. Varane finds himself behind Sergio Ramos and Pepe in the Madrid pecking order and has become frustrated with the situation.”

Manchester United have conceded too many goals this season and coach Louis van Gaal is looking for a world class defender in the transfer market and Gerard Pique of FC Barcelona is his preferred target. However, the Catalan player is reluctant to leave his current club and Manchester United are now forced to look elsewhere.

Manchester United have scouted Raphael Varane on many occasions in the past and they believe that he is a perfect candidate to lead their backline for many years to come.

Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho wants to sign a long term replacement for captain John Terry and Raphael Varane remains the top target for the Blues boss.

Real Madrid signed Raphael Varane when Jose Mourinho was the coach of the club and the Portuguese coach believes that young Frenchman has what it takes to maintain the legacy of club icon John Terry.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti wants Raphael Varane to extend his stay at the club. Ancelotti wants Raphael Varane to replace ageing Pepe in the longer run and he has asked the club authorities to resolve the future of the Frenchman as soon as possible to avoid any impact on the game of the player.
