Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti feels that Louis van Gaal is unlikely to win the Premier League in his first season at Manchester United, despite his credentials.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, who won the Premier League with Chelsea in his first season in charge, believes new Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal will fail to repeat that feat despite his wonderful credentials as a manager.

Manchester United struggled under David Moyes last season as the former Everton boss failed to fill the gap left behind by Sir Alex Ferguson. The Red Devils failed to defend their league title and ended up seventh in the league table, failing to qualify for the Champions League.

But the arrival of Dutch mastermind Louis van Gaal has brought renewed hopes at Old Trafford as the former Netherlands manager looks to rebuild the squad this summer and compete for the league title once again.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, who managed Chelsea to a Premier League title in the 2009-10 season, believes that van Gaal will do a wonderful job at Manchester United, but insisted that the Dutchman will struggle to win the league in his first season in charge.

“He [Van Gaal] is a very good and very experienced manager. He has had fantastic experience in many countries and I think he will do a fantastic job with Manchester United.

“He had a fantastic World Cup with Holland and is a manager who has nothing to learn.

“After Alex Ferguson, last year for United was more difficult and now they have to repeal the team. They have signed really good players this year. [But] to build a team is not so easy.

“The Premier League in this moment is a very competitive league and will not be easy to win in the first year because there are a lot of teams who are really competitive and want to win.” – The Real Madrid manager said before the two sides faced each other last night.

Manchester United defeated Real Madrid 3-1 to set-up a clash against Liverpool in the final of the International Champions Cup in Miami.
