Manchester City’s captain and talisman Vincent Kompany has been ruled out of Belgium’s Euro Qualifier against Wales on Sunday. Vincent Kompany could be be out for ten to twelve days, as the skipper reels with a groin injury.

“The news is bad,I told the team it’s a shame but it’s not a problem; there are solutions.” said Belgium’s coach Marc Wilmots

Although with the amount of talent at their disposal Belgium could easily slot in another Center Back for Kompany, but Kompany who also plays for club side Manchester City, could face a defensive crisis.

The Manchester City defender has already missed City’s last fixture against Queens Park Rangers, where they were held to a 2-2 draw.

Having missed Belgium’s friendly against Iceland, Kompany is expected to miss Manchester City’s clash against Swansea City, which is scheduled for 22nd November, after the International break.

Manchester City are already reeling with defensive crisis and as it stands the ‘other side’ from Manchester has fallen prey to unworthy attacks. City conceded 2 goals against Queens Park Rangers, that could have been easily avoided.

Equalim Mangala has been at the heart of the defensive crisis, as the former Porto man has failed to impress fans and critics alike. With Vincent Kompany unavailable for the next couple of days, responsibilities of organising the defense could fall to Martin Demichelis.

Demichelis, however has been pretty decent for Manchester City lately, the Argentine who is known for his game reading abilities have helped construct the City defense in the absence of proper first teams regulars.

Vincent Kompany’s groin injury which is expected to be worse than initially reported, is set to take its toll on Manchester City, as the Sky Blues are already struggling with their form under coach Manuel Pellegrini.

As the scenario stands, Manchester City sit third and behind second placed Southampton. There is also a hefty gap between league leaders Chelsea and Manchester City.

Although Pellegrini has rubbished his concern for Chelsea, the Chilean could be forced to catch Chelsea throughout the course of the season, as the London side has failed to showcase any signs of complacency.

Meanwhile, Man City take on Bayern Munich in their Champions League endeavors. This fixture could be a ‘make or break’ fixture for City, as they are already favorites to crash out of the group stages.

If Vincent Kompany’s injury extends to a good amount of time, Manchester City could be in the midst of a hefty crisis. The skipper is already set to miss the clash against Swansea City, who boast a 2-1 victory coming into this match.

Vincent Kompany’s injury has taken a blow on Manchester City and if the skipper fails to regain form after coming back from the injury, City could be in real trouble.
