Sitting on the 4th spot in the Premier league with two games in hand, Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri claims that the blues are not scared of Chelsea in the race for the title.
Manchester City sit 6 points behind league leaders Chelsea and though they have two games in hand, it seems that Chelsea have a slight advantage after having already won their share of fixtures. The lead could well be extended to 9 points as City face Wigan in the FA Cup and will not be playing a league fixture this weekend.
However the French international has brushed aside all claims of Chelsea having an advantage and has made it clear that Manchester City are not scared of Mourinho’s men.
“I’m not scared about Chelsea or the league. There is plenty more to play and everyone is going to have difficult games.”
“If we win our two games in hand, we are going to be top of the league. But it’s better not to talk and to act on the pitch.”
Talking about the race for the title, Samir Nasri claimed that the Premier League title will go down to the wire and believes that Liverpool too are proving themselves to be serious contender for this year’s crown.
“We’re there in the league and if we win our two games in hand we will be top with Chelsea. It’s going to be tough until the end because Liverpool are still there too.”
In contention for four titles this season, Manchester City are looking good after peaking at the right time of the season. Talking about the FA Cup fixture against Wigan Athletic this weekend, the French midfielder believes that it will provide Manchester City the opportunity to extract revenge for last season’s final.
“We also play Wigan at home in the FA Cup and that’s going to be a good time to have revenge for the Cup Final.”
Manchester City seem to be in control this season having already won their first silverware. Thrashing Sunderland 3-1, Nasri was instrumental in City winning the League Cup after scoring the decisive goal that gave City the lead.
“We are all happy to win the League Cup. A final is a final, a trophy is a trophy, a Cup is a Cup no matter which one it is. Whatever Cup you play for, you want to win it, especially when you are a player. Trust me the League Cup is important for us.”
Meanwhile reports suggest that Eden Dzeko might be on his way out of the Etihad Stadium this summer. Inter Milan is reportedly hoping to sign Eden Dzeko this summer who is not guaranteed a starting spot in a squad that is teeming with world-class strikers. Eden Dzeko will have to prove his merit in a squad that boasts the presence of Sergio Aguero, Negredo and Jovetic and it seems that the Bosnian international might well be on his way out as his current contract expires in 2015.
Eden Dzeko has played a crucial role this season due to Aguero and Negredo being injured but is expected to miss his starting spot with Aguero returning to the squad. Dzeko is in his fourth season at City and his contract runs out at the end of the next season. It seems that Inter Milan are keen on acquiring his services and will be putting forward a transfer offer this summer. With Milito past his prime, Inter are in need of a replacement to partner Mauro Icardi to lead the attack. It will be interesting to see if Eden Dzeko decides to stay at Manchester City and fight for a starting position amongst the likes of Aguero, Negredo and Jovetic or if he decided to seek a move away from England to guarantee a starting position.
