Manchester City are willing to activate Fiorentina’s Juan Cuadrado’s release clause, which is believed to be around £28m. Cuadrado has also been linked to Manchester United recently and reports of proposed talks between the two parties, have added fuel to this speculation.
But according to Italian sources, City will capitalize on United’s drop in revenue and supposed limited funds by meeting Cuadrado’s sizeable buy-out clause in January.
With Cuadrado committing his future to Fiorentina till 2019, the Voila are unlikely to do business for anything less than £28m. The 26 year old however, is discontent with the states of his sides fortune.
However, both Manchester City and Manchester United’s bosses have applauded Cuadrado’s versatility and pace. The Colombian International is known for his versatility, speed, composure, trickery and finesses.
Juan Cuadrado burst on to the scene with Fiorentina last season, after his performances in the Serie A captivated fans and critics alike. The 26 year old has the versatility to ply his trade as a Winger, Wingback, and even as a Defender. Though his performances are best noted for attacking intent, which he thrives upon, Cuadrado is also a defensively sound player. Playing as a Wingback in Fiorentina’s 3-5-2 under Vicenzo Montallea, Cuadrado is known for his tireless running on and off the ball.
Both, Manchester City and Manchester United reel with defensive duties and with both teams failing to make a decent impression on the league, while exposing their defense regularly, new recruits could be on their way.
Manchester City’s hefty signing in the form of Equalim Mangala has not worked wonders, and the former Porto man has been exposed to the fast pace game of English football, constantly.
Meanwhile, Manchester United reel at seventh – a position which is uncharted and perhaps new to many United supporters even after last year’s horrendous campaign.
Gaffer Louis van Gaal could look to bolster his defense as United have looked defensively frail, whilst being constantly exposed to injuries and other shortcomings.
Juan Cuadrado could provide a creative outlet along with a knack for defensive stability as the 26 year old has displayed with his performances for Fiorentina.
After a glorious World Cup wherein Cuadrado finished with four assists to his name, tying him with Toni Kroos, the Colombian International has attracted many suitors.
Although Fiorentina have been reluctant so far to sell their star player, they could be lured by the money offered by either Manchester City or Manchester United.
With a possible transfer looking likely, Juan Cuadrado could sway either to Manchester United or Manchester City, with Manchester City looking likely, as the Sky Blues are expected to make many changes in January and these changes are expected to rejuvenate their ailing squad, as Manuel Pellegrini believes.
