Federico Macheda completes his move from Manchester United to Cardiff City on a three-year deal.

Macheda was promoted to the first team in 2008 and his best moment in an United shirt arrived when he scored that memorable winner against Aston Villa. But he failed to establish himself in the first team and had loan spells at lot of clubs including Sampdoria, Stuttgart and QPR.

Last season he was sent on loan to Doncaster Rovers, before joining Birmingham City in January. Cardiff City, who were relegated from the Premier League, have now reached an agreement to sign Federico Macheda as former Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to strengthen the squad in the summer. Macheda became their third signing of this summer, and looks to be a direct replacement for Craig Bellamy, who retired from football earlier this month.

Macheda expressed his pleasure at have secure this move and to play under some like Solskjaer.

“It’s a massive opportunity for me and it is with thanks to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that I am here.

“Last season I had a good spell on loan at Birmingham City, but this is a new chapter of my career now and I can’t wait to get started and show everyone who I am.

“Knowing Ole, he wants to get back into the Premier League as soon as possible and the recent signings show that.

“I’m here for the same reason. I feel that this is a great team and if we can have a good season and work hard then we can go straight back up.” – Macheda said to the club’s official website.

Cardiff City officially announced the signing and revealed his three-year contract with the club.
