Pep Guardiola has backed Luis Enrique to become a big success for FC Barcelona.

FC Barcelona made an impressive start to their season under new coach Luis Enrique but they seem have struggled to maintain their tempo in recent weeks. Coach Luis Enrique is being criticized now in the sections of Catalan media for his static approach but Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola has called for a patience.

“He’s going to be a success”, said ex-FC Barcelona coach Josep Guardiola. He was in Barcelona on Sunday to vote for the independence of Catalunya.

FC Barcelona splashed huge money during the summer transfer window on new signings like Luis Suarez, Thomas Varmaelen, Claudio Bravo and Ivan Rakitic. Luis Enrique has struggled to find the right balance in spite of the availability of so many world class players but Guardiola called for patience from the fans.

Guardiola said: “Everything in life needs time. Football is a process. You don’t turn up and by November you’re champions of everything. Everything takes time, everything needs work. Sometimes things go so smoothly, sometimes they are a bit tougher. I only hope I don’t meet them in the Champions League”.

Fierce rivals of FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, have made an excellent start to their new season and when asked about the Los Blancos, Guardiola said: “Madrid have always been strong”. FC Barcelona defender Gerard Pique is a subject of a big controversy at the club nowadays but Guardiola chose to back the under fire player. “Gerard Pique, like any player who is with the Spanish side, like myself, will put all his passion into it, and will want to do as well as possible”.

Meanwhile, FC Barcelona have struggled to maintain the fluidity of their game in recent games and coach Luis Enrique was criticized for his selection for a match against Almeria when he didn’t start the game with Luis Suarez. But left-back Jordi Alba claimed today that Luis Suarez is an important player of the club and he has a huge future ahead of him at the club.

“Luis Suarez made a great pass to Neymar for the first goal,” Jordi Alba told the club official website. “Later, he found me all alone in front of the keeper. Luis Suarez played a great game, he’s adapted well, and he’s really important for us.”
