Raheem Sterling is set to sign a new lucrative deal with Liverpool FC.
After getting Daniel Sturridge to extend his stay with the club, promising rising star Raheem Sterling is all set to sign a new deal as well as the Merseyside team looks to tie down the player’s allegiance on long term.
After the departure of Luis Suarez, and the absence of Daniel Sturridge through injury, a lot of attention has shifted to Raheem Sterling who has fast become the player Liverpool have gone to rely on. Sterling has shown immense growth and maturity in the last 12 months or so and has been able to sustain his performances. At 19 years of age, he still has a very long way to go but with the potential already displayed by the England international, there is no limit to how high his stature might reach one day. No wonder, Real Madrid have been said to be tracking the Jamaican born Englishman’s progress. Madrid are ready to pounce on any lose opportunity and want to lure Sterling to the Spanish club. PSG too, have been linked with the player in the recent days.
Liverpool are therefore obviously keen to secure the long-term future of their prized possession. It has been suggested in the recent weeks that Sterling is reluctant to put pen to paper with the Reds. Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is unconcerned by the ‘rumours’ and says that the winger knows Liverpool is the right club to help his career develop.
“It is not a big issue for us,” Rodgers said.
“Ian Ayre has spoken to his representatives and is quite relaxed.
“The club is dealing with the agent so everything is calm. The boy is remarkably happy here and there are no secondary thoughts about anything else other than continuing to play for Liverpool and he still has a lot of growth and for that the best place for him to be is here.
“His representatives know that and we as a club respect that so that will get sorted out with time.”
Sterling is understood to earn around £30,000 a week at present and it is rumored that his wages would be tripled with a new deal.
