Saido Berahino and Timo Horn are linked with a move to Liverpool next month.

West Brom striker Saido Berahino remains one of Liverpool’s leading targets in the January transfer window according to reports while there are also suggestions that Brendan Rodgers might axe Simon Mignolet in favor of Germany U21 keeper Timo Horn.

Berahino has scored seven league goals so far this season and his impressive form was rewarded with his first call-up for the senior England side in the last international break. Rodgers sees the 21-year old as the perfect player to revitalize the attacking department which has been toothless too often this season. Tottenham are also interested in Berahino and West Brom would want atleast £25 million before agreeing to a sale. Liverpool have made a disappointing start to the season and are currently ninth after picking up just 21 points from their opening 15 games. They have struggled to replicate the attacking play which won them so many plaudits last season and have looked toothless without the presence of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge upfront. Mario Balotelli has failed to score in the Premier League since his arrival from AC Milan, and though there have been reports that the club are already willing to sell him, he is expected to remain at Anfield in January. Balotelli is currently out injured and is facing a five match suspension after his controversial Instagram post.

Liverpool are also closely monitoring FC Koln goalkeeper Timo Horn with a view to making a move for him when the transfer window reopens in January. The 21-year-old has played for Koln since the age of nine, and has been impressive with his commanding performances in the Bundesliga so far this season. Horn has average 2.22 saves per goal conceded in the Bundesliga so far this season. The German Under-21 international is valued at around £5 million, and Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes he can challenge Simon Mignolet for the number one spot at Anfield. Mignolet has struggled to convince since he joined Liverpool from Sunderland for around £8 million last summer, and he has made a number of costly errors this season. Rodgers is believed to have made signing a new goalkeeper a priority in the New Year, and the club have been linked with a number of potential targets in recent months. One of those players was Fiorentina’s Neto, who would be available on a free transfer at the end of the season. However, the Brazilian appears to be close to signing an extension with the Serie A club.
