Liverpool FC take on Crystal Palace and would be without the services of the injured Daniel Sturridge.

The England international was expected to make a comeback after almost a three month absence, in this game, but sustained yet another injury in training and is now out till next year. This comes as a real blow for Brendan Rodgers as his side has struggled vastly in front of goal.

Meanwhile, summer signing Mario Balotelli is raring to go after a lacklustre showing the league so far, but his involvement will only be decided before the game as the 24 year old suffered from a hamstring problem, sustained on international duty with Italy, and will be assessed ahead of the game.

Rodgers may also finally give the Liverpool fans the 4-4-2 they have been waiting for as his patience with Balotelli working as a lone man up front might have run its course. Brendan Rodgers  also hinted that summer signing Rickie Lambert may start this game.

“You have to find the solutions when you are not winning games,” said the Liverpool boss.

“You have to assess where you can be better and that is something I will always do. I am not dogmatic. I have shown in my time here we have played in various systems: possession and fast football, counter-attacking football.

“There are other possibilities for us and we will always explore that. That was one of the reasons we brought in the likes of Rickie. He is a talented footballer but he gives you a different option of playing in a different way.

“When he is in the team you have to ensure you get crosses into the box and get service for him, but it is the job of the manager to analyse that and pick what is the best structure in the game to get you a result.”

Midfielder Jordan Henderson is fit to start the game, after being rested by England against Scotland in midweek as a precaution.

Youngster Jon Flanagan continues to miss out.

Predicted Line-up (4-3-3): Mignolet; Manquillo, Skrtel, Lovren, Moreno; Gerrard, Henderson, Can; Sterling, Coutinho; Balotelli
