AC Milan are in talks with Liverpool over the transfer of Fabio Borini. The Italian side is also looking at Chelsea striker Fernando Torres.

The arrival of Mario Balotelli from AC Milan has left the Italian side in a bit of a pickle. Even though Rossoneri have signed Jeremy Menez from PSG, the forward was brought in from the French club more as a reinforcement rather than a replacement. Moreover, Menez operates as a winger primarily.

Milan CEO Adriano Galliani has inquired about a host of top name strikers but has apparently shelved plans to sign Radamel Falcao, Jackson Martinez and Mattia Destro due to financial reasons.

Milan are looking at Chelsea’s Fernando Torres over a potential move. Mourinho appears intent on keeping Torres at Chelsea, at least until he manages to sign Roma’s Mattia Destro. Having sold Romelu Lukaku to Everton earlier in the summer, the Portuguese coach is keen to keep at least 3 forwards in his squad.

It has now been brought to the fore that the Italian side are looking at Liverpool’s Fabio Borini as a replacement for Mario Balotelli, who was unveiled as a Liverpool player yesterday. Fabio Borini’s future with the Merseyside club has been in serious doubt for a long while now. The ex-Roma player has been linked with a move to Sunderland all summer and manager Gus Poyet has made his interest public. Serie A side Milan have since entered the picture, with reports in Italy suggesting they have made an approach for the player.

Gus Poyet’s Sunderland are losing patience with the pursuit of Borini. Asked if the club would set a deadline for signing Borini, Poyet replied, “I have asked myself many, many times. I don’t know, to be honest, I don’t know if we need to put a date on it or not. I don’t know. It’s a daily thing. If something incredible comes in and we need to make a decision – a player that we cannot say no to – then I am sure there will be a few phone calls saying ‘now or never’ both ways. But at the moment, we haven’t found that player, but we will see.”

There are talks of over a loan deal for striker Fabio Borini with AC Milan. However, the Reds are reported to be keen on a permanent deal for the striker. Liverpool now have Daniel Sturridge, Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert as their preferred attacking options and would not particularly mind offloading Borini. And at Borini’s age (23), he would be keen on moving to a club where he gets regular game-time. At this moment, a move to Sunderland looks more likely for Borini.
